Fast food is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly. The term fast food was recognized in a dictionary by Marriam-Webster in 1951. The concept of ready-coocked food for sale is closely connected with urban development.
As the cities and towns developed people became busier and worked harder. Because of that they had less time to cook food for themselves. It was around that time that kiosks and bars serving ready-cooked meals sprouted. People could either eat those meals in or take them away. It turned out to be very convenient as no time was spent on cooking and people would constantly be fed when feeling peckish.
With the first McDonalds restaurants opening in 1955 fast food service spread on a large scale. Beautiful wrappings and dishes designs as well as clourful advertesments attracted many children and teenagers. People started visiting MD with their families.
However, despite being so popular among children, teenagers and sometimes adults, some downside effects gradually began to take theit toll. Several people who had been regulary eating fast food for years started suffering from obesity. Many people put on much weight and started having health problems. After several people died of obesity scientists carried out numerous researches which revealed that fast food contains a lot of genetically modified crops food, caloric and trans fats. Even active sports activities cannot prevent health from being damaged by fast food.
In the USA obesity is the 2nd leading cause of death and results in four hundred thousand deaths each year. About 60 million american adults are classified as being abase with another 127 million being overweight.
So, to conclude I'd like to stress that though fsat food may taste delicious and look attractive it shouldn't be eaten often as its constant use leads to obesity and related health problems.
